Jessica Neighbor Bio

Jessica Neighbor is a thriving talent with the soulful voice of a veteran show-stopper. She is now flourishing in the Bay Area music scene with her own Jazz & Soul ensemble, Jessica Neighbor & The Hoods. Jessica is a captivating performer with experience fronting numerous Bay Area soul, funk, jazz, Motown and swing bands.

A Berkeley native born into a professional musical family, Jessica racked up numerous awards and scholarships while studying vocal and theatrical performance in Berkeley High ‘s prestigious Music Department, and in the competitive UCLA Theater Program. After performing in bands and plays in LA, Jessica is based in Oakland as a hot commodity in the Bay Area singing, teaching, and performing in well known music ensembles and theatrical troupes.

Jessica was a tour-de-force in the popular 11-piece band Wonderland, a Stevie Wonder Tribute band featuring guitarist Errol Cooney (Beyonce Knowles). The popular group played to sold-out crowds at The Black and White Ball, Slim’s, Bimbo’s and The Great American Music Hall. Jessica also received rave reviews for her performance in “Vapor Tales”, a rock-musical by ERP Productions that won “Best Musical Score” (S.F. Critics Circle Award). She currently gigs with the well known Sixties Review, Casino Royale, jazz fusion quintet, Groove Unit, and Swing & Motown band, The Cool Jerks, along with long-time Santana vocalist, Tony Lindsey.

Jessica Neighbor released her debut CD, “How Deep is the Ocean” in the spring of 2003. At their debut performance, Jessica Neighbor & The Hoods drew such an over-capacity crowd at The Jazz School, that an unprecedented second set was added to the night’s hot engagement.
